MoNstEr week
This week was monster week in art class. We talked about the Expressionist artist, emotions and monsters. We even spent some time running around the room as monsters showing different expressions. These are monsters created by the first grader artists. We used oil pastels on black paper, starting with white sketches, layers of colors, and black outlines to finish. I love how the monsters turned out, but what made me the happiest is how great some of the special needs students were able to express themselves. Sometimes drawing things that don't exist really levels the playing field. It was a fun week of bringing out my inner monster.

I love the monsters! What fun.
I love the variety of different kinds, colors and shapes of monsters. How neat that all the kids could be sucessful.
So fun! I particularly love that red one!
