rumpus day
We celebrated Rumpus Day last June. It was a holiday I made up as an excuse to spend the whole day playing outside and write on my children's tummies. I miss outside. Everything is white here. We have at least 18" of snow with a layer of ice in the middle. This summer I think everyday will be Rumpus Day.

Cold Day
-7 How can that be an actual temperature? And we have way too much snow...
But to be completely honest I must admit I love snow/cold days. Days when it is so cold or so snowy that even the "run around keep busy" moms stay at home. These are the days when we wear PJs all day and make real pancakes for breakfast. The perfect day to slow down and play. Part of today's play was snow in the kitchen. If we can't go out to the snow momma will bring it in, besides the kitchen floor needed washing anyway.
So even though the kids and I haven't left the house (except to fill the bird feeders) for two whole days I think I am still sane. But, pleeeeeeeeeeeease let us go out tomorrow.

New Art Journal
I don't make resolutions, but I do start each year with a new art journal. This is the first page of my 2009 journal. Usually each year has a broad theme Grow, Beauty, Time, etc., but this year I'm stumped... It feels like it might be a year for change, but I'm not a big fan of change. Trying not to change seems like a really bad theme, so I'll have to keep working on it.

Happy New Year to you...
We've been singing happy new years to you to the tune of happy birthday for the past few days. Ellie and Noah had special hats for their New Year's Eve Brownie Party with Grandma and Grandpa. Joel and I snuck away for a lovely evening with much missed old friends. I was a lovely start to a new year, except of course for the hours of vomiting during the night...that left over tuna looked o.k...
